Road Safety At Work congratulates Luella Ryan of Status Electrical, the latest winner of a vehicle safety kit with one year of roadside assistance.
We chatted about road safety with Luella at the Western Conference on Safety on April 10th. The Western Conference on Safety is the largest Occupational Health and Safety Conference in Western Canada. The event provides delegates with two days of presentations, educational sessions and exhibits, followed by two days of professional development courses.
Luella is on the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee at Status Electrical and is aware that motor vehicle incidents are the leading cause of traumatic workplace injuries and fatalities in BC.
Luella knows that having comprehensive road safety policies and procedures in place will help control exposure to workplace driving hazards, but agrees that it is only one piece of the equation. Having a strong safety culture that inspires employees to follow the rules when nobody is watching is key. Luella is considering attending our “Building A Stronger Road Safety Culture” workshop to gain some ideas and tips to further develop Status’ occupational road safety program.
